So long and thanks for all the fish!

This is why I am deleting my blog. 

I am grateful for the teachers I have "met" while blogging and I will focus on my family blog. My family can't fire me if I complain about them, can they?

Keep doing what you all do so well!

Wild Horses

My morning is spent teaching four English classes. The afternoon is all homeroom, all the time. It includes "study hall", DEAR time, read aloud, and English. 

I am exhausted at the end of the day because the entire afternoon is spent keeping this bunch from spinning out of control. Remember, I have 11 students with behavior issues, all are loud, and most have problems with impulse control. One of the non-behavior-issue kids is now unmedicated because dad lost his job and they are trying to get medicaid. This poor boy is trying so hard to keep it together. 

It feels like trying to rein in wild horses for two solid hours.

Birch trees...

Back and forth... Two steps forward and one step back... But we are moving forward. 

I always plan to do something fun on Friday afternoons. But Fun-Friday has to be earned. So, I usually have a few kids that have to go hang with the principal, or with another class while we have our fun project. Also, by Friday, I will have a few other or my troublemakers already out of the classroom because they are in ISS. Someday, someday all my kids will earn Fun-Friday.

Last week we painted birch trees. It's an easy step-by-step process and they did a wonderful job! I love how some of them turned out. They all had their own unique look. 

It was messy and busy and we loved every minute of it.
