Day one...

We went over policies and procedures. We got to know each other. We built marshmallow towers. 

 I learned all their names. 

The best part is that this child is in my homeroom class. If you read my other blog, you are well acquainted with Noodle.

My room - 2010

 I took these pictures this morning so they do not show the progress I made today. This is part of my front wall, the door is to the left.

From the door. I've added two more desks. We hear rumors we have to plan for 27. We will get our rosters tomorrow.

Novel Study bulletin board. The students will create posters, brochures, and comic strips to display for the novels we will study.

This will be our wall of wow! I will choose work that wows me and display it for a week.

Class library and reading area. A wonderful friend and former teacher gave me the huge display cabinet. I love it and it holds a lot of stuff in those drawers. 

A rescued chair from a teacher who retired. It will be my reading chair.

Tomorrow I have to work from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will be a long day, but I am up for it. I cannot wait to meet my homeroom critters and their parents. 

Here we go!

Today is my first official day of the 2010-2011 school year. I worked in my room yesterday and it is 95% ready and really looks good! I'll get pictures today and post later.

Tomorrow is our meet and greet with parents and students. I look forward to this every year. I love meeting these kids for the very first time. I always give them a bag of popcorn with a note that says "Thanks for popping in to meet me." 

I am ready!

Frustrated!

Our school district got backlogged on carpet cleaning and floor waxing, so we cannot get into our rooms this week.  

"Meet the Teacher" in is less than two weeks! 

I would not be so frustrated if it weren't for the fact that we had to clear our rooms out of any personal things that would not fit in our cupboards. My garage is full of my stuff and I will need to move that back to school and I am changing rooms, so I have to move all the furniture and my computers. Because we are down to one custodian, I will have to find my own help moving stuff. 

So, I am a little frustrated that I cannot get into my room this week, and they "hope" we can get in next week. Hope...
